Commemorating World Environment Day 2024, Semen Gresik Invites Dozens of Employees to Join Bike to Work Action

Rembang, June 6th, 2024Cultivate a healthy life and maintain fitness, Management and employees of PT Semen Gresik together with the bicycle community Semen Gresik Rembang Cyclist (SGRC) held a bike to work activity from the start of Rembang city to the work area at the Rembang factory.

The bike to work agenda covering approximately 20 km was attended by the General Manager of Communication & Legal of PT Semen Gresik, Abdul Manan, General Manager of Human Capital & System Management, Ummi Sofiana, and dozens of employees who are members of the SGRC community.

Senior Manager of Communication & CSR PT Semen Gresik, Sulistyono, invites all Semen Gresik people to always apply and maintain a healthy lifestyle, one of which is by regularly exercising, as well as an effort to use environmentally friendly energy.

“Men sana in corpore sano, in a healthy body there is a strong soul, a term that becomes the company's ihktiar in paying attention to the health and fitness of employees, so that the hope is able to increase employee performance productivity in supporting the sustainability of the company's business operations in the long term,” he explained.

In maintaining the fitness of employees at Semen Gresik, he continued, there are various sports communities such as running communities (Segers), bicycles (SGRC), badminton, tennis courts, soccer, and other sports communities.

“Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm of the employees is very good, dozens of employees both from Rembang and the surrounding areas follow the bike to work agenda held by Semen Gresik,” he said.

Sulistyono added that the bike to work activity is also a commemoration of Environment Day by carrying out a joint cycling action to the workplace as an effort to use environmentally friendly vehicles.

As a form of responsibility for environmental sustainability, until now PT Semen Gresik has reclaimed 3 hectares of clay post-mining land and 5.5 hectares of limestone post-mining land. The company has also planted various types of trees more than 33,610 trees, with 588 species of flora and 196 species of fauna.

In addition, PT Semen Gresik also involves 361 farmers from six surrounding villages to manage 119.25 hectares of land owned by the Company which is expected to provide added economic value.
